Heel Pain
Heel pain is a very common foot problem, and 90% of heel pain is caused by plantar fasciitis (plan-tar fash-ee-eye-tiss). Plantar fasciitis sufferers feel pain at the bottom of the heel. If you feel pain behind the heel, you could be suffering from Achilles tendonitis or Achilles tendinosis. Other causes of heel pain include stress fractures, arthritis, nerve irritation, and rarely, cysts. Heel pain is also a common childhood complaint. Heel pain in children is usually caused by a disorder called calcaneal apophysitis. Heel pain frequently disappears on its own, but it is important to have a podiatrist at Ankle & Foot of Edmonds determine the underlying cause of your pain and develop a treatment plan so that the pain does not become chronic.
