Hammertoe
Hammertoe is a deformity that occurs in the four smaller toes and not in the big toe. It is characterized by the bending of one or both of the joints of these toes, causing the toe to resemble a hammer. Hammertoes develop over a period of years and are common among adults. Women are at greater risk of developing hammertoe than men because of the types of shoes they wear, such as high heels. The podiatrists at Ankle & Foot of Edmonds recommend seeking early medical attention for hammertoes for the best results.
