Dr. Joanne Gormley

Bio

Dr. Joanne Gormley has practiced in Seattle since 1990 and was named a Seattle Top Physician by Seattle Met Magazine in 2015. She joined Ankle & Foot of Edmonds in 2017. Dr. Gormley believes in service to her profession and her community. She helped establish the free podiatry service at Mary's Place day shelter for homeless women and children in Seattle. Dr Gormley also served on the board of the Washington State Podiatriac Medical Association for 12 years, including 2 years as President. She was named 2017 Podiatrist of the Year by the WSPMA for her service to her profession. After graduating 3rd in her class at Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago in 1988 she completed post-graduate surgical training in Milwaukee, WI and the Seattle area. She has been board cetrified in foot surgery since 2001.

Dr. Gormley is a former college lightweight rower and still enjoys rowing in addition to gardening, cheering for UW women's basketball and spending time with her grandchildren. She and her spouse Mary Pat live in Seattle.

 

Practice Philosophy

Dr. Gormley believes that patient education is essential to the patient's understanding and involvement in the health care decision making process so the best plan of care can be determined for each individual. Dr. Gormley has a special interest in addressing biomechanical problems and keeping patients active throughout their lives to promote overall health.

"The basis of good medical care is to understand the patient's goals for treatment and to provide the information needed to choose the best option, whether it is preventative care,comfort care or surgical correction."
